Our Work:
Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. The majority of individuals who smoke daily began smoking before 18 years of age. Fortunately, the number of people who currently smoke or vape can be reduced through tobacco education and prevention activities. We’ve been successful with smoke-free air and reducing youth tobacco use by over 20% since 1998. We appreciate our successes, but we know our work must continue. As a new generation of tobacco products hits the market youth are still being targeted by tobacco companies in new ways. Our Alliance works closely with our partners to reduce these issues through the following work:
Education | Community Assessment | Youth Prevention | Advocacy |
Smoke-Free Air | Tobacco-Free Schools | Behavioral Health | Smoke-Free Housing |
When Western Wisconsin Tobacco-Free Alliance references tobacco, we are referring to commercial tobacco and not the sacred and traditional use of tobacco by some Native American communities.
