On December 8th, 2023, it was announced that Wisconsin and 32 other states and territories finalized an agreement with JUUL Labs for $435 million. This agreement was a result of a two-year bipartisan investigation into the e-cigarette manufacturer’s marketing and sales practices. Wisconsin is to be allocated more than $14.7 million as a result of this settlement.
The American Lung Association recently released their 21st annual “State of Tobacco Control Report” this report evaluates states and the federal government on the proven-effective tobacco control laws and policies that are necessary to save lives. This report allows the states and federal leaders to see what they need to do to eliminate death and disease cause by the use of commercial tobacco products.
Western Wisconsin Tobacco- Free Alliance is hosting a Youth Poster Contest. This contest is open to all middle and high school students from Barron, Burnett, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, and St. Croix Counties.
